2018 ABOS Carol Hole Travel Award Winners


Carol Combs Hole provided exemplary leadership on behalf of libraries, bookmobile, and outreach services throughout her 32 year career as a professional public librarian. She retired from distinguished service to the Alachua County Library District on March

1, 2006 and passed away on October 1, 2007. The five (5) $500 travel grants include free conference registration and a stipend for travel expenses and/or accommodations for the conference.  A special thank you to Don Thompson from ACORE for sponsoring two of these awards.

Resa Mai is from Loveland, CO and the Clearview Library District.  Resa drives her library’s bookmobile and is looking for new ways to serve her most remote patrons.

Oscar Gittemeier is from Decatur, GA and the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library.  Oscar has recently accepted his position of Adult Outreach Librarian and has been tasked with reaching 50,000 new users in three years.

Laura O’Neil is from Athens, OH and the Athens County Public Library.  Laura is the Outreach Services Manager in charge of resurrecting home delivery service.  Laura is also researching new community partnerships and a new outreach vehicle.

Kim Falkowski is from Grand Island, NY and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.  Kim is the bookmobile manager and is in charge of operating a brand new Library on Wheels department that is only two years old.

Lina Correa is from Miami, FL and the Miami-Dade Public Library System.  Lina is the Bookmobile Manager and operates a fleet of three bookmobiles and a technobus.
