A long-time supporter and advocate of the Association of Bookmobile & Outreach Services, the ABOS Board of Directors established the Pattie Johnston Outreach Award in recognition of Pattie’s forty-five years of exceptional service to the outreach field as well as for her outstanding leadership and numerous contributions to ABOS.
Pattie Johnston began her service at the Lawrence Public Library in Lawrence, Kansas in 1972 and in 2001, she became the library’s senior outreach coordinator. During her forty-five years of outstanding service at the Lawrence Public Library, Pattie made a lasting impression on the countless adults, seniors, children, and families that she served. Pattie served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Association of Bookmobile & Outreach Services, including serving as the 2015 president, presiding over the 2015 annual conference in St. Charles, IL.
Presented to a bookmobile or outreach support staff member who has provided exemplary service to their community through bookmobile and outreach services. Candidates must not hold an MLIS and must work in a supportive role in their library (drivers, assistants, associates, clerks).
