Daniel Rice, Board Member at Large '25
Co-Chair, Technology Committee
Danny Rice (he/him) is the Director of Mobile Library Services at the Gail Borden Public Library District in Elgin, Illinois, which aims to “Bring the Library to You” through our fleet of outreach vehicles and variety of services. Whether in our big, green bus, our smaller, green Sprinter Van, or even our people-powered Book Bike, we seek out the most underserved groups and bring them library services where they live, play, and relax.
Danny earned his Master of Library and Information Science Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and is now co-chair of our Digital Equity Committee, which seeks to apply the same community-focused principles to our technologically disadvantaged neighbors. Danny has previously worked as a Children’s Librarian at the Bloomington and Normal, Illinois Public Libraries, where his outreach journey began, providing everything from therapy dog reading programs to technology classes to music-based story times and more.
